Gung hey fat choi everyone – Happy Chinese Year of the Dog’!

We had great fun celebrating this festival with our friends from Mill Lane Reception and Jack and Jill Pre School. It was a busy morning and the children had a wonderful time trying lots of activities linked to this New Year festival. Our celebrations ended with a colourful and noisy parade with children playing instruments, waving dancing ribbons and dressing up as dragons and lions. What a celebration!

Another Windmill Nursery favourite this term is ‘World Book Day’. The children dressed up as their favourite characters, hoping to impress the judges at the Mill Lane Book Factor. It worked! The judges really enjoyed our song about the Hungry Caterpillar and it was lovely how the rest of the School helped us to grow in confidence by joining in with us too. We also planned to visit Chinnor Library but had to postpone our walk due to very snowy weather. However, our storytelling afternoon with Year 3 was a great success and we loved listening to the stories that the older children chose for us.

For the rest of the term, we will be finding out lots about ‘growth and change’. Do only caterpillars change? How do we change? What other changes can we think of? As Easter approaches, we are also getting ready for our chicks eggs and incubator. What other new discoveries will we make? We can’t wait!
